The Southern Appalachian Region, covers parts of North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, Virginia & West Virginia. Over 10 million people in this southern region call these mountains home and unmistakably live a higher lifestyle of health and abundance of scenic beauty.
It’s diverse Mountain region includes large tracts of deciduous forests, rivers, streams and lakes. These forests act as natural air purifiers, absorbing carbon dioxide plus other pollutants and releasing clean oxygen. Dense vegetation helps to maintain air quality, providing residents with cleaner, fresher air compared to urbanized or industrialized areas.
Additionally, the region benefits from lower population density, which correlates with reduced pollution levels. The Southern Appalachian Region also has numerous protected natural areas, including national and state parks, wildlife refuges, and conservation areas. Regulations governing these protected lands controls on pollutants, ensuring that the air and water quality remains high. Visitors and residents alike benefit from these clean, well-maintained environments that support a wide range of outdoor recreational activities, from hiking and fishing to camping and bird watching.
As a result, residents of the Southern Appalachian Region enjoy a high quality of life and I hope to share some of my favorite recipe’s and activities for better health and well-being.
